THANK YOU !!
The first week of Project 500 has been delivered and it could not have happened without your support! We want to thank everyone who was involved in making this week a huge success.
Statistics have shown that there are an estimated 16,000 children living in poverty in Coventry alone, Project 500 began as a concept to help take disadvantaged children away from their normal routines and give them an experience they would never forget!
After months of preparation, and the redevelopment of the Butts Park Arena pitch we finally launched our first camp during the October half-term, working with over 60 children and their respective schools each child received the following:
– A unique 4 day sports activity camp working alongside our coaches and 1st XV players
– Breakfast and lunch opportunities as many would be supplemented with the Free School Meals programme
– A replica junior Coventry Rugby shirt (with plenty of signatures thanks to our players)
– A season ticket for them and a parent/guardian so that they can keep coming back to The Butts Park Arena for the rest of the season
Have a look at our summary video below for the first camp and hear from the children, coaches, and parents themselves:
As you can see, we have provided a structure to Project 500 that will bring both short-term enjoyment alongside long-term sustainability. Camp by camp, year on year, we hope to build our Project 500 alumni and help bring relief to so many children and their families right here in Coventry. But, of course, there is always so much more we can do.
None of this could have happened without your support and we hope that you will continue to support us in our future Projects. The Coventry Rugby Foundation have already seen great impact through this project as well as its others, and if you are interested in helping us to make a difference through this and our other programmes, do not hesitate to contact us and share this message with the world.
Many thanks once again,
Hal Sparke & the Coventry Rugby and Foundation Team
