Senior Academy
Players in this programme are fully integrated into Coventry Rugby’s first-team environment and benefit from individual coaching, regular performance feedback, and professional development support.
Players may also be dual-registered to ensure regular competitive rugby with appropriate National League sides.
In addition, the club runs an U23 Development Squad, which plays 6–8 fixtures per season. This team provides a platform for local talent to be considered for our Senior Academy.
U18’s
Our EPDG is the next step on the pathway for talented players aged 16–18 and represents the transition from potential to performance. It includes graduates of the Player Development Programme (PDP) and other selected individuals.
The programme begins with pre-season training in July and includes a structured fixture schedule across the season. Entry is based on assessment of fixtures and trials, leading to placement within our U17 and U18 cohorts.
- U17 Year – Specialise Phase: Focus on core craft and positional ownership.
- U18 Year – Readiness Phase: Emphasis on performance, physical robustness, and preparation for senior rugby.
Contact Time: Approximately 100+ hours per season, and a competitive fixture list featuring, Cardiff Blues, RGC, Glasgow Warriors, Ealing Trailfinders, and Edinburgh Rugby.
The academy starts at U16 level and players can be nominated by clubs to attend.
