Get in there! What a clinical attacking masterclass from the boys! We absolutely steamrolled Nottingham with 10 tries, and best of all, we’re bringing the Matt Gallagher Cup straight back home to CV1! It’s a massive result for a brilliant cause in the Matt Gallagher Foundation, raising vital awareness for MND—something we’ll always proudly get behind.
We came out of the gates absolutely flying with the wind behind us. Big Senitiki Nayalo is an absolute machine, crossing over in just three minutes after some beautiful link-up play from Bruce Houston and Tommy Mathews. He wasn’t done there either, grabbing his second just six minutes later!
Nottingham tried to make a game of it, levelling it up at 12-12, but then we just shifted into overdrive in the second quarter. Murray Davidson was immense, grabbing a brace—one from a classic rolling maul and then bursting through a gap! Barton and Houston added to the tally right before the break, leaving us sitting pretty at 38-12 at half-time.
Second half, same story. Nayalo sealed his hat-trick just four minutes in (what a shift!), and the boys off the bench kept the momentum going. Mackenzie Graham got our seventh, then Tom Bacon turned on the afterburners, and Marcus Rhodes finished off the demolition job. Nottingham got a couple of consolation scores, but the damage was well and truly done.
Up the Cov! Bringing the cup back to the NNS. This was one to remember a game of dominance and silverware at the end of it.
